Aunt June

Today my great aunt, June passed away.

I'll never forget her,

she was such a strong lady and always so happy.

I'll never forget how she always

wore pink lipstick,

when we would talk about basketball,

when I went to visit her house,

when I brought her to a basketball game,

when she rescued a dog from Hurricane Katrina.

She battled lung cancer for a few months,

but it got to her.

But now I know she's in a better place,

and I can't wait to see her when it's my time.

I'm glad I knew when it was my final

goodbye this summer.

I knew it was gonna be my last

hug and kiss goodbye and I'll never forget it.

I got to talk to her through video chat

this Thanksgiving and at my sister's wedding,

and I'm so happy I had the chance to

before it was too late.

Aunt June you'll be missed

and never forgotten.
